Exposure Is Everything.

↑The court, late afternoon

People love telling young people to dream bigger.

Okay. Bigger than what?

What if they’ve never met somebody who owns a business? Never known anyone who went to college? Never had a chance to see what a career in the skilled trades could look like?

How are they supposed to know what’s possible if nobody has shown them?

I’ve helped young people go from a high school diploma or GED into college, skilled trades, and businesses of their own. I’ve seen what happens when somebody discovers an option they didn’t know existed.

Now they’ve got something real to consider. Somebody they can talk to. A goal they can work toward.

That doesn’t mean the work is done. They’ve still got decisions to make and things to learn.

But before we tell somebody they’re not aiming high enough, we ought to ask what they’ve had a chance to see.
